Calculative Reasoning is the ability to allow Reason (Based on Logic) prevail over Emotions. As humans, we are emotionally attached to things we believe hence we always view situations and problems from an emotional standpoint.
For instance; Banditary, insecurity, inflation, etc which are the resultant effects of bad Governance, are according some people punishments from God. And therefore, for we to remedy these things we must repent from our iniquities and ask God for forgiveness. On the Russian-Ukraine war, some people believe that, it is the end of the world that is approaching that is why we are facing all these calamaties as prohesised in the holy books. When you look at notions like these, you’ll agree with me that, it is Emotion that is speaking devoid of any Reasoning.
The proponents of these notions are simply assuming and concluding that “this” follows “that” even when there’s no logical connection (non sequitur) and evidence.

Calculative Reasoning is a derivative structured on the foundation of Rationalism and Pillar of Logic. It’s length and breadth is deeply rooted in the human faculty of behavior. It is what makes us Rational Beings.
As humans our Morality is primarily shaped by human/societal constructs as anchored on the fears peddled by: Religion, Government and other external factors.
For instance; Religion says if you commit murder you will go to hell and the government says you’ll be jailed for such offense. In this case, the fear of going to hell or jail is what controls and preserves our morality. But in the case of Calculative Reasoning, you can only be morally pure when you act in accordance with your best nature i.e without the interference of any external factor.
When Calculative Reasoning becomes deeply rooted in us, it transforms us and enables us to interact with nature, our environment and people around us thereby allowing us to become more reasonable and rational (Kant, n.d.).
In essence, Calculative Reasoning stretches deep down to the very foundation of human nature. It is what coordinates our morality. It enables us to develop a comprehensive moral framework hence we don’t need any deity, religion etc to show that to us. Through this, we learn how to recognize our own self destructive tendencies and even though we are far from perfection we make deliberate efforts to reinforce the positive tendencies along with supressing the negative ones.
